Ulises Valdez
As one of the most charismatic people in wine and most highly regarded Vineyard Managers, Ulises Valdez, grew up with humble beginnings in a tiny village called Los Cuachalalates in Michoacan, Mexico. At the age of 10 he left to work in the flea markets of Mexico City for his uncle, selling women’s lingerie. He still remembers those days very fondly.
By the time Ulises was 16 he had made his way to Sonoma County, CA learning and working vineyards in Dry Creek Valley for the Florence family. That later started a partnership between Ulises and Jack Florence Jr., farming thirty acres that would eventually grow to nearly six hundred acres.
Now, as sole owner of Valdez and Sons Vineyard Management, Ulises farms over eight hundred acres of Northern California vineyards, including some of the most prestigious holdings in all of the Russian River Valley. Ulises fell victim to the wine bug, and now owns and operates Valdez Family Winery, which produces premium Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel. Ulises is a valued member of our team at Thomas George Estates, and somebody whom we consider as a member of our family.
