Our 2010 Bei Syrah is a vineyard designate from the coastal hills of Sonoma Cty, just 3.8 miles from the Pacific. Bei vineyard is located in the mountains (1600 ft. elevation) just west of the town of Cazadero. This clone 877 Syrah was hand-harvested on Oct. 22 and destemmed to tank with 2.5% Viognier. 25% of the Syrah was kept whole cluster and added to the must 24 hrs after picking. An eight day cold soak preceded the ‘native’ yeast ferment. After fermenting for 22 days, the wine was drained and the skins were pressed through our basket press. The Syrah was put to 100% French oak barrels (33%new) and aged for 16 months.
